Are you wanting a portable generator that can give you enough power to be functional when you’ve got an emergency? Do you want something that is still reasonably affordable, yet also CARB compliant so it can be used in California too? With the Champion Power Equipment portable generator, you’re going to get a gen set that will give you up to 4,000 watts of maximum output on a surge with a rating for 3,500 watts. If you’re running a half load, you’ll get up to 12 hours of use! Best of all, you’ll find this generator priced for less than $500 on Amazon right now!

What Kind of Features Does This Champion Generator Have?

The one feature we really loved about this particular portable generator is its remote start. You simply set the time delay if  you want, press a button, and your generator is powering up for when you need to use it! It’s portable enough that you can take this generator along with you in a portable trailer, yet strong enough to give your home some of the basic power needs it has during an emergency. It really is a sound, reliable generator!

There’s also these additional features to consider with this Champion portable generator:

  • it has an advanced load shutoff that will stop it from being overloaded, but also reduce the power consumption use so that as much power as possible is spread out over the system;
  • this generator ships with the oil you need for it, along with a funnel so that it can be oiled before the generator is started; and
  • the durability of this generator is outstanding, standing up to high heat, bitter cold, and even rainy environments with ease.

If you’re running the regular outlets from this generator, you’re going to end up with a unit that provides about 20 amps of power. You’ll need to use the 125v outlet to get the 30 amps of power that are advertised with this generator.

Is There an Advantage To Owning This Portable Generator?

The surge protection within the power line itself is the nicest feature by far of this particular portable generator. Champion has created a product that will bring the engine up into a stable pattern of running before power is supplied to the lines, eliminating the surges and other power issues that can sometimes ruin appliances and fixtures. When you add in the remote features, it means you can stay inside where you’re warm and dry to start this generator up!

If there was one improvement to make with this particular portable generator, it would be to include a 220/240 outlet on it so that there are a few more options. It would be nice to power a dryer, for instance, to make laundry chores easier – or to run your spa! The gas tank is a bit strange in design as well, but nothing that isn’t manageable.

If you’re looking for an affordable work horse of a generator that isn’t a permanent addition to your home, this could be the generator you’ve been wanting to get. Take a look today because it definitely receives one of our strongest recommendations.
